WiFi (also known as the IEEE<\/span> 802.11 pro\u00adto\u00adcol stack) has become triv\u00adial after the boom of the Inter\u00adnet in the ear\u00adly years of the 21st cen\u00adtu\u00adry. Most res\u00adi\u00adden\u00adtial Inter\u00adnet con\u00adnec\u00adtion offer\u00adings in the mar\u00adket has turned the WiFi router an essen\u00adtial piece of hard\u00adward, main\u00adly due to the pletho\u00adra of devices with\u00adout any form of phys\u00adi\u00adcal (cabled) con\u00adnec\u00adtion, like smart\u00adphones, tablets, dig\u00adi\u00adtal music read\u00aders, etc.<\/p>\n

There are dozens (if not hun\u00addreds) of dif\u00adfer\u00adent devices, with dif\u00adfer\u00adent fun\u00adcional\u00adi\u00adties and con\u00adnec\u00adtion speeds, but in essence, they all do the same. They allow simul\u00adta\u00adne\u00adous con\u00adnec\u00adtions of sev\u00ader\u00adal devices in you home or office to con\u00adnect to the Inter\u00adnet via Eth\u00ader\u00adnet cables or WiFi.<\/p>\n

Banana Pi R1<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

A few months ago I dis\u00adcov\u00adered the Banana Pi R1<\/span>. This is a WiFi router unlike most.<\/p>\n

Its hard\u00adware fea\u00adtures make it a very pow\u00ader\u00adful router, even capa\u00adble os play\u00ading mul\u00adti\u00adme\u00addia files (HD<\/span> movies, most\u00adly), main\u00adly due to its HDMI<\/span> connectivity.<\/p>\n
